HorrorConUK Code of Contact

Everyone attending HorrorConUK events as visitors, guests, speakers, sponsors, volunteers, traders and media representatives are asked and required to conform to the following code of conduct. This code of conduct will be enforced throughout the event and we expect our attendees to co-operate to help ensure that HorrorConUK    is a safe environment for all.

The environment at HorrorConUK is unusual and people are likely to attend wearing unusual dress or outfits, and trading in unusual ‘horror’ themed merchandise but nevertheless this policy will apply.

Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, technology choices, deliberate intimidation, harassing photography or recording; sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, harassment including of special guests, exhibitors or traders, and unwelcome sexual attention.

Please remember that because people are in costume this is not an invitation to touch or take photos.  Usually people in costume are happy to have photos taken or to be included in ‘selfies’ but please ask first and be courteous.

Participants asked to stop any harassing behaviour are expected to comply immediately.

If a participant engages in harassing behaviour, the HorrorConUK organisers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from HorrorConUK without refund.

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of HorrorConUK staff immediately. HorrorConUK staff can be identified as they’ll be wearing branded clothing and/or badges.

HorrorConUK will help participants contact security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the conference. We value your attendance.

We expect participants to follow these rules at all HorrorConUK activities, exhibitions, talks, Q and As, etc.
