Special GuestJen & Sylvia Soska

Canadian identical twins Jen and Sylvia Soska AKA The Soska Sisters—are award-winning auteur directors, writers, and producers who have carved a bold path through the horror genre. Frustrated by the lack of representation and originality in the industry, they set out to change it—and succeeded.

They burst onto the scene with their breakout indie film Dead Hooker in a Trunk, but it was their cult classic American Mary that truly cemented them as innovative voices in modern horror. The film’s critical and fan acclaim led to collaborations with Lionsgate Films and WWE Studios, resulting in the fan-favourites See No Evil 2 and Vendetta, both hits with wrestling and horror audiences alike.

Pioneers in the genre, the Soskas became the first female directors to join the acclaimed horror anthology ABCs of Death, and went on to host two seasons of Blumhouse’s unique survival horror game show Hellevator. They later reimagined David Cronenberg’s Rabid and are continuing the legacy of George A. Romero with Festival of the Living Dead.

Their influence also extends into the comic book world. They’ve written for Marvel and DC, with Black Widow: No Restraints Play hailed as one of the best Black Widow stories ever told. They currently serve as writers and lore masters for the breakout indie publisher The Rippaverse, where their debut comic Yaira #1 raised over $1.6 million in its campaign. Their follow-up, Bloodruth, became the Rippaverse’s first horror title and quickly outsold many mainstream horror comics.

The Soska Sisters are now working on a slate of new projects with Young Dirty Bastard of the Wu-Tang Clan and his creative partner Danny Hamilton, delving into a gritty new subgenre of horror inspired by the real-world.
